Member for Cleveland, Mark Robinson said today that he was delighted to announce that Cleveland District State High School would be receiving their long-awaited $6 million multi-purpose indoor auditorium.

Dr Robinson said Shadow Minister for Education, Tracy Davis had accepted his invitation to visit the school only several weeks ago.  (See picture attached).

“This personal visit provided the Shadow Minister with the opportunity to hear first-hand the concerns of the P & C, and unquestionably their number one priority was the urgent need of a school hall.

Ms Davis commented at the time that Cleveland High was one of the only schools in the state to still be without a hall, despite its high enrolment numbers.

“The hall project is long overdue,” Dr Robinson said.

“Upon completion, it will not only be a valuable addition for the school community but it would also facilitate as a venue for the many and varied groups that utilise Cleveland High’s resources.

“I congratulate the school and the P & C for their highly successful e-petition to Parliament in November last year that I was happy to co-sponsor.

“The people power of 2,383 petitioners from the school community provided the final push that got the project over the line.

“After lobbying successive Education Ministers, petitions, meetings, school visits, newsletters, phone calls, stories in the local paper and speeches in Parliament, finally the efforts and patience of the school community has been rewarded.
