Member for Oodgeroo, Mark Robinson said today that the Palaszczuk Labor government had shamefully been pressured into announcing a hold on its planned cuts to Palliative Care beds at the Redland Hospital.
Dr Robinson said he received news of the hold overnight in a message from the Minister on Twitter.
“Whilst I welcome the reversal of Labor’s terrible decision in a tweet from the Minister’s account, I still await an official written response to my representations,” Dr Robinson said.
“The Minister has had more than ample opportunity to rule out cuts to Palliative Care beds at Redland Hospital by way of the State Budget and, more recently, at Estimates Committee hearings, where he surprisingly chose to duck and weave when questioned and talked about a Bayside node.
“With a review into Palliative Care services currently underway, the Redlands’ community will have an expectation that Labor members Richards, Brown and de Brenni will fight hard with me to retain the funding for this vital service to continue its operation at the Redland Hospital.”
